Funding & Grants

Helping Every Club Prepare for Investment

A proposed league-wide grant-readiness programme for affiliated clubs.

Finding a grant is only the beginning

There are funding programmes and development supports across Ireland that can help football clubs improve their facilities and services. But before applying, clubs often need governance documentation, financial records, registrations, project plans and quotations.

For volunteer-run clubs, preparing all of this can be a considerable challenge. The proposed LDL Investment and Grants Programme would help clubs get those foundations in place, so no club misses an opportunity simply because it lacks the time or specialist knowledge.

How the league could help

  1. 1

    Monitor

Actively monitor relevant national and local grants and funding programmes for sports clubs in Ireland.

  2. 2

    Identify and notify

Identify opportunities that suit eligible clubs and let them know in good time.

  3. 3

    Prepare

Help clubs put the right documentation and plans in place before deadlines arrive.

  4. 4

    Apply

Provide practical assistance with preparing applications.

A plan for each club

One club may want to improve its dressing rooms. Another may need floodlighting, pitch improvements, accessibility works or a longer-term facilities plan. The programme would help each club identify its priorities, understand the likely costs and develop a realistic plan.

Professional advice

Mark would like to explore engaging specialist consultants, such as 2into3, to support the league with funding strategy and grant preparation. This would be subject to agreement, cost and the appropriate league approval. No consultancy partnership is in place.

The programme would also draw on professional expertise already available across Limerick.
