A development plan
LDL 2030 — A Development Plan for Every Club
Four proposed programmes to strengthen clubs and improve how the Limerick District League supports them.
More than fixtures, results and discipline
Every club in Limerick is different. Some have excellent facilities and experienced committees; others run on limited resources and a small number of dedicated volunteers. LDL 2030 proposes a league that becomes a centre of support, knowledge and development for all of them.
The aim is for every affiliated club to have access to a clear development pathway, practical assistance and the expertise that already exists across Limerick football.
The four proposed programmes
Programme 1
LDL Club Support Taskforce
A dedicated team of volunteers and professionals providing practical assistance to affiliated clubs, including club visits, governance support, FAI Club Mark preparation, safeguarding administration and shared digital templates.
- Club visits and practical, hands-on assistance.
- Governance support and FAI Club Mark preparation.
- Safeguarding administration support.
- Shared digital templates for committees and administration.
Programme 2
LDL Investment and Grants Programme
Helping clubs become grant-ready, identify funding opportunities, prepare applications and develop realistic facilities plans.
- Getting clubs grant-ready before deadlines arrive.
- Identifying relevant funding opportunities.
- Practical help preparing applications.
- Realistic facilities plans and budgets.
Programme 3
Fixtures and Referee Development Group
Improving annual fixture planning, digital communication, consultation with clubs and support for referees.
- Earlier visibility of the annual fixture calendar.
- Digital fixture information, updates and requests.
- Consultation with clubs on scheduling challenges.
- Support for referee recruitment, retention and training.
Programme 4
Governance and Fair Procedures
Improving transparency, communication, accountability and fair administration within the applicable league and FAI rules.
- Clear information about decisions and applicable rules.
- Consistent, timely handling of disciplinary matters.
- Proper management of conflicts of interest.
- Respect for the established appeals process.
How LDL 2030 would be developed
- Listening first: speaking directly with club representatives and recognising what is already working well.
- Regular surveys and consultations so clubs can contribute to the league's future direction.
- Working alongside the FAI and its national club-development programmes.
- Bringing each proposal through the appropriate league approval processes, within the applicable league and FAI rules.
